About the Opportunity
The Standards & Technology team at the Business Area Networks is responsible for securing future technology leadership for the Ericsson Radio Networks. A part of achieving this is to develop concepts and drive standardization in 3GPP RAN for 5G and 6G, impacting RAN product decisions and future product design.
The Radio Interface Standardization team is driving the standardization of the 3GPP radio interface protocols for 5G Advanced and the emerging 6G standard. We are now looking for a researcher bringing profound competence in air interface design to our team to develop physical layer (L1) concepts that will define the future 6G standard.
What You Will Do
• Performing, documenting and communicating research studies, measurements or computer simulations
• Creating new technical solutions and protect them with Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
• Preparing technical input and capability to participate as a delegate in 3GPP RAN WG1 standardization meetings
• Supervising and coach other researchers
• Collaborating with product development teams
• Developing or contributing to technology strategies and standardization strategies
• Developing or contributing to evaluation tools, demonstrators or test beds if needed
What You Will Bring
• MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Technical Physics, or equivalent
• The successful candidate has a proven track record in performing own research and enhancing radio interface protocols
• A detailed understanding of radio interface technologies in 5G NR is a necessary requirement, particularly within the area of radio interface protocols
• Understanding of driving standardization in e.g. 3GPP RAN WG1 is a merit
• Strong analytical skills and ability to acquire new knowledge and apply it in the job
• Ability to deliver high quality results under deadlines
• Working with people across organizations inside and outside the company
• Excellent presentation and communication skills in written and spoken English
• Creativity, innovation mindset and ability to work independently
• Ability to formulate problems and solve them independently
• Ability to develop and drive new ways of working, to produce research results in a more efficient way
• Deciding & initiating action
• Ability to travel to global standardization meetings
